antifogging agent is a chemical that prevents fogging of glass or plastic surfaces, commonly used for lenses and mirrors on glasses, goggles, camera lenses and binoculars. They work by minimizing surface tension, resulting in a non-scattering film of water instead of individual droplets. Aside from the fact that anti-fogging agents are beneficial for optical applications, they also help to maintain the transparency of packaging films. Fog on the surface of packaging films can reduce shelf appeal and impact the quality of the product. To prevent this from occurring, the anti-fogging additives are worked into the polymer at the extrusion level and migrate to the surface. This lowers the surface tension of the water droplets, enabling them to spread out and form a more uniform layer of water, eliminating the fogging effect and enhancing the visibility of the packaged item.
