Titanium diboride (TiB2) is an extremely hard ceramic with excellent mutation, oxidation stability and wear resistance. Titanium diboride (TiB2) is an extremely hard ceramic used, for example, in special ballistic armor applications. In addition, unlike most ceramic components, it is conductive. It is also a reasonable electrical conductor, so it can use the conduit material in aluminum smelting and can be formed by electrical discharge machining.

Titanium diboride (TiB2) is a ceramic material with high strength and hardness, and its melting point, hardness, strength-to-density ratio and wear resistance are relatively high. However, the current use of this material is probably only in the anti-evolving important application is the use of TiB2 waveguides in the electrochemical reduction of alumina to aluminum metal. If electrical discharge machining of TiB 2 is performed, other applications may develop rapidly. Can be perfected. The wide application of this material may be restricted by economic factors, especially the cost of densifying high melting point materials and the reduction in material performance changes. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Titanium Diboride TiB2 Powderin bulk.

How is Titanium Diboride TiB2 Powder produced?
Titanium Diboride TiB2 is the most stable of several titanium boron compounds. This material does not appear in nature, but it can be synthesized by carbothermal reduction of TiO2 and B2O3. Like most other covalently bonded materials, TiB2 is resistant to sintering and is usually compacted by hot pressing or hot isostatic pressing. Pressureless sintering of TiB2 can achieve high density but requires liquid sintering aids such as iron, chromium and carbon.

TiB2 does not naturally exist on the earth. Titanium diboride powder can be prepared by various high-temperature methods, such as direct reaction to prepare titanium or its oxide/hydride. When elemental boron exceeds 1000°C, carbothermal reduction by thermite reaction has been developed in various synthesis pathways. Electrochemical synthesis and solid-state reaction were used to prepare more refined titanium diboride in large quantities.

Application of Titanium Diboride TiB2 Powder:

Titanium Diboride (TiB2) is a hard material with high strength and high wear resistance at elevated temperatures. The high density, combined with the high elastic modulus and high compressive strength, has to lead to its use in armor components.
It is unaffected by most chemical reagents and has excellent stability and wettability in liquid metals such as zinc and aluminum. This, along with its high electric conductivity, has led to its use in Hall- Héroult cells for aluminum production. It is also used as crucibles for molten metals.Due to its high hardness, extremely high melting point and chemical inertness, TiB2 is a candidate material for many applications.

Ballistic armor
The combination of high hardness and medium strength makes it attractive for ballistic armor, but its relatively high density and difficulty in forming shaped parts make it less attractive than some other ceramics.

Aluminum Smelting
The chemical inertness and good conductivity of TiB2 have made it used as a cathode in Hall-Heroult batteries used for primary aluminum smelting. It can also be used as a crucible and metal evaporation boat for processing molten metal.

Other uses
High hardness, medium strength and good wear resistance make titanium diboride a candidate material for sealing parts, wearing parts and composite materials with other materials and cutting tools.
Used in combination with other major oxide ceramics, TiB2 is used to form composite materials, where the presence of the material helps increase the strength and fracture toughness of the matrix.
Potential applications of TiB2
The current uses of TiB2 are almost limited to special applications in the fields of impact-resistant armor, cutting tools, crucibles, neutron absorbers and wear-resistant coatings.

TiB2 is widely used as a vaporizer for vaporizing aluminum. For the aluminum industry, it is a selective material that can be used as an inoculant for grain refinement when casting aluminum alloys because of its implantability, low solubility in molten aluminum and good electrical conductivity.

TiB2 films can be used to provide wear and corrosion resistance to inexpensive and/or strong substrates.

How is Niobium Boride NbB2 PowderProduced?
NbB2 can be synthesized by the stoichiometric reaction between constituent elements, in this case, Nb and B. This reaction provides for precise stoichiometric control of the materials. Reduction of Nb2O5 (or NbO2) to niobium diboride can also be achieved via metallothermic reduction. Inexpensive precursor materials are used and reacted according to the reaction below:
Nb2O5 + 2 B2O3 + 11 Mg → 2 NbB2 + 11 MgO
Mg is used as a reactant in order to allow for acid leaching of unwanted oxide products. Stoichiometric excesses of Mg and B2O3 are often required during metallothermic reductions in order to consume all available niobium oxide.
Borothermal reduction of NbO2 with elemental boron via solid‐state reaction was proposed by Jha and coworker to obtain nanorods (40 × 800 nm2)
A variation of the borothermal reduction in molten salt was proposed by Ran and co-workers using Nb2O5 with elemental boron to produce nanocrystals (61 nm).
Nanocrystals of NbB2 were successfully synthesized by Zoli's reaction, a reduction of Nb2O5 with NaBH4 using a molar ratio M: B of 1:4 at 700 °C for 30 min under argon flow.
Nb2O5 + 13/2 NaBH4 → 2 NbB2 + 4Na(g,l) + 5/2 NaBO2 + 13 H2(g)

Applications of Niobium Boride NbB2 Powder:
NbB2 is an ultra-high temperature ceramic (UHTC) with a melting point of 3050° C. Its relatively low density of about 6.97 g/cm3 and good high-temperature strength make it a candidate for high-temperature aerospace applications, such as hypersonic flight or rocket propulsion systems. The ceramic has high thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity (resistivity of 25.7 Ω Ybcm, Cte of 7.7 Yb10 −6°C−1), and has the same properties as titanium diboride, zirconium diboride, hafnium diboride and tantalum diboride with the same structure
NbB2 parts are usually hot pressed or spark plasma sintered (mechanical pressure is applied to the heated powder) and then machined into shape. The covalency of NbB2 and the presence of surface oxides hinder the sintering of NbB2, and the particles are coarsened and then densified in the sintering process.NbB2 can be sintered without pressure by using sintering additives such as boron carbide and carbon. These sintering additives react with surface oxides to increase the sintering force, but the mechanical properties of NbB2 decrease compared with hot pressing sintering.

Boride Powder

Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder CAS 12041-50-8

About Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder:
Aluminum boride (AlB2) is a binary compound formed by aluminum element and boron elements. It is a red solid under normal temperature and pressure. It loses its surface gloss when heated. It is stable in cold dilute acid and decomposed in hot hydrochloric acid and nitric acid.

Aluminium boride (AlB2) is one of two compounds of aluminum and boron, the other is AlB2, and they are commonly referred to as aluminum boride. AlB12 is a black and shiny monoclinic crystal with a specific gravity of 2.55 (18°C). It does not dissolve water. The single crystal of AlB2 is parallel to the hexagon of the base.

The structure of aluminum diboride (AlB2) is similar to that of graphite flakes. There are Al atoms between B atoms and B atoms, which is very similar to the structure of magnesium diboride. The AlB2 single crystal exhibits metal conductivity along an axis parallel to the hexagonal plane of the substrate.

Aluminum boride powder is considered a hazardous substance because it reacts with acid and hydrogen to generate toxic gases. For example, it reacts with hydrochloric acid to release borane and aluminum chloride.

The crystal structure of AlB2 is often used to describe the prototype structure of intermetallic compounds. There are many structure types in the AlB2 structure family. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder in bulk.

AlB2 yields a solution having a reducing soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, and the solution may contain HB (OH), is not soluble in sulfuric acid but can be dissolved in nitric acid. Above 920 degrees AlB2 broken down into AlB12.

Product performance of Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder:
Aluminum diboride is an ionic compound, with a hexagonal crystal structure.  Aluminum boride at an absolute temperature of slightly 40K (equivalent to -233 ℃) will be transformed into a superconductor. And its actual operating temperature is 20 ~ 30K. To reach this temperature, we can use liquid neon, liquid or closed-cycle refrigerator to finish cooling. Compared to the current industry using liquid helium to cool the niobium alloy (4K), these methods are more simple and economical. Once it is doped with carbon or other impurities, magnesium diboride in a magnetic field, or there is a current passing, the ability to maintain the superconducting is as much as niobium alloys, or even better.

How is Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder produced?
Amorphous boron powder and aluminum powder are used as raw materials to prepare aluminum boride powder by powder metallurgy.

X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope were used to determine the phase composition, relative content and micromorphology of the product, and the influence of buried powder on the phase composition of the product was studied, and the optimal process parameters of the synthesis process were determined.

The structure of aluminum boride is similar to that of intermetallic compounds, and its structure mainly depends on the crystal structure of aluminum metal and boron rather than their valence relationship.

Diboron silane AlB2 indicates that the two elemental substances are formed by the reaction above 600°C. It is a layered structure in which Al atoms directly overlap (A, A-mode), and B atoms are filled in the triangular column formed by the direct overlap of Al atoms, that is, the boron layer is between the two aluminum layers.

The boron layer is similar to the graphite structure. The boron atoms are connected into a hexagonal network. The distance between each B atom and the other three B atoms is 0.173nm. There are six Al atoms connected to B, and they are wrapped on the top of the triangular pillar. AlB2 can be dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid to produce a reducing solution, which may contain HB(OH)+3. AlB2 does not decompose dilute sulfuric acid but can decompose in nitric acid. AlB2 decomposes to AlB12 above 920℃.

Applications of Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder:
Aluminum boride is a random (or rhombic) white or light yellow powder. It can be used as:
Non-toxic flame retardant,
plastics,
rubber,
textiles,
coatings,
superconducting magnets,
transmission lines,
sensitive magnetic field detectors.

Storage conditions of Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder:
Aluminum boride nanopowder products should be stored in dry, cool and sealing of the environment, can not be exposure to air, in addition, should avoid the heavy pressure, according to ordinary goods transportation.

Packing & Shipping of Aluminum Diboride AlB2 Powder:
We have many different kinds of packing which depend on the aluminum diboride AlB2 powder quantity.

Hafnium Diboride HfB2 Powder CAS 12007-23-7

About Hafnium Diboride HfB2 Powder:
Hafnium boride is a gray crystal with a metallic luster. It has high conductivity and stable chemical properties. It hardly reacts with all chemical reagents (except hydrofluoric acid) at room temperature. It is prepared by mixing hafnium dioxide, boron oxide or boron carbide, carbon powder and heating, or by reducing hafnium tetrachloride and boron trichloride through hydrogen reduction at 2,000°C or directly reacting hafnium and boron. It is used as a high-temperature alloy.

HfB2 powder has high melting point, high hardness, good electrical and thermal conductivity, and good neutron absorption performance. It has important applications in the fields of ultra-high temperature materials, superhard materials, electrode materials and neutron absorption materials.

With the development of material technology, the application fields of hafnium diboride ceramics and composite materials are becoming more and more extensive. Obtaining low-cost, high-quality hafnium diboride powder is currently an important research and development director at home and abroad. Hafnium diboride is difficult to sinter. In order to improve the sintering performance, it is necessary to obtain an ultrafine powder. Although nano-powder has superior performance, its cost is high, and it is difficult to disperse during raw material processing, and the process is more difficult. Therefore, the development of sub-micron hafnium diboride powder has been paid more and more attention.

Hafnium diboride belongs to the class of Ultra-high-temperature ceramics, a type of ceramic composed of hafnium and boron. It has a melting temperature of about 3250 °C. It is an unusual ceramic, having relatively high thermal and electrical conductivities, properties it shares with isostructural titanium diboride and zirconium diboride. It is a grey, metallic-looking material. Hafnium diboride has a hexagonal crystal structure, a molar mass of 200.11 grams per mole, and a density of ~10.5 g/cm³.

Hafnium diboride is often combined with carbon, boron, silicon, silicon carbide, and/or nickel to improve the consolidation of the hafnium diboride powder (sintering). It is commonly formed into a solid by a process called hot pressing, where the powders are pressed together using both heat and pressure. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Hafnium Diboride HfB2 Powder in bulk.

Features of Hafnium diboride HfB2 powder:
Hafnium diboride is an ultrahigh temperature ceramic composed of hafnium and boron. It has a melting temperature of about 3250 degrees Celsius. It is an unusual ceramic, having relatively high thermal and electrical conductivities, properties it shares with isostructural titanium diboride and zirconium diboride. It is a grey, metallic looking material. Hafnium diboride has a hexagonal crystal structure, a molar mass of 200.11 grams per mole, and a density of 10.5 grams per cubic centimeter.

How is Hafnium Diboride HfB2 Powder produced?
The combustion synthesis method of high-purity hafnium diboride powder is realized according to the following steps:
1. Mix the basic raw materials and diluents. The basic raw materials include hafnium dioxide, boric anhydride and magnesium powder. The percentages by weight are: hafnium dioxide: 30% to 60%, boric anhydride: 10% to 40%, magnesium powder :15%~50%, the weight of the added diluent hafnium diboride is 0~3 times of the basic raw material;

2. Drying and mixing;

3. Load the uniformly mixed raw material powder into a graphite boat, and then put it into a closed pressure vessel. The closed pressure vessel is cooled by circulating water, and the reaction is maintained under a protective atmosphere with a pressure of 0-5Mpa or under vacuum conditions. The raw materials are self-propagating combustion and transformed into products;

4. Take out the product after cooling. The product is a mixture of hafnium diboride and magnesium oxide. The magnesium oxide is removed by acid washing, and then the hafnium diboride is washed with water, filtered and dried to obtain hafnium diboride powder.

Applications of Hafnium Diboride HfB2 Powder:
Hafnium diborideis used in wear-resistant coatings. Its use has also been looked at for use in ultra-high-temperature composites in conjunction with silicon carbide (SiC), due to its excellent refractoriness. The addition of silicon carbide improves its oxidations resistance.

The oxidation resistance of hafnium diboride is dependent on the temperature and pressure. At a temperature of 1500 °C and 1 atm of pressure, a protective oxide scale of hafnia forms. When temperatures rise above 1600 °C and pressures drop below 1 atm, the oxidation resistance of HfB2 is dramatically reduced. Under these conditions, the boiling temperature of B2O3 (one of the oxidation products of HfB2) is exceeded and the protective oxide layer.

The material has potential for use in hypervelocity reentry vehicles such as ICBM heat shields or aerodynamic leading-edges, due to its strength and thermal properties. Unlike polymer and composite material, HfB2 can be formed into aerodynamic shapes that will not ablate during reentry.

Hafnium diboride is also investigated as a possible new material for nuclear reactor control rods.

Hafnium diboride is also being investigated as a microchip diffusion barrier. If synthesized correctly, the barrier can be less than 7 nm thick.

Storage Condition of Hafnium diboride HfB2 powder:
Damp reunion will affect HfB2 powder dispersion performance and using effects, therefore, hafnium diboride HfB2 powder should be sealed in vacuum packing and stored in cool and dry room, the hafnium diboride HfB2 powder can not be exposure to air. In addition, the HfB2 powder should be avoided under stress.

Iron Boride FeB Powder CAS 12006-84-7

Iron boride (FeB); boranylidyneiron
CAS No. : 12006-84-7
EINECS No. : 234-489-9
Molecular Formula: FeB
Molecular Weight: 66.656
Appearance: offwhite orthorhombic crystal
Particle size: 20-40um
Specific surface area: 60 m2/g

About Iron Boride FeB Powder:
Iron boride (FeB) is a gray powder that is insoluble in water. FeB is harder than Fe2B, but more fragile and more likely to break on impact. Feb is a soft ferromagnetic compound that becomes paramagnetic at temperatures above 325°C (617°F).In the air,  FeB powders begin to react with ambient oxygen above 300°C. Although a large number of FeB materials are expected to remain stable in air, FeB is a very hard compound (measured by Vickers indentation at 15-22 GPa), it is undesirable on bonded steel because the FeB layer is brittle and tends to flake off steel or iron.
Feb has a zigzag chain of boron atoms coordinated by seven iron atoms. The boron atom has a slightly twisted single-terminated triangular prism iron atom coordination and two boron atom neighbors. The B-B single bond distance is 178 PM, the Fe-B single bond distance is 215 -- 220 PM, and the Fe-Fe single bond distance is 240 -- 272 PM. Each triangular prism shares two rectangular faces with a nearby prism, thus forming an infinite sequence of the prism.
The FeB single crystal is occupied by the bond domain. The bond domain is parallel to the easy magnetization axis and perpendicular to the hard magnetization axis. The structure of a closed domain is described as "rows and twists of asterisks".The bond domain has an obvious direction on the boundary of the main domain, while the closed domain is rhomboid. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Iron Boride FeB Powder in bulk.

How is Iron Boride FeB Powder produced?
The preparation method of iron boride FeB is as follows:
1. It is prepared by mixing boron with iron at a molar ratio of 1∶1 and cheating in argon at 1200 ~ 1300℃.
2. Reaction FeS and BCl3 in hydrogen at temperatures higher than 500℃, or from ferrous chloride solution and sodium borohydride (NaBH4).

Application of Iron Boride FeB Powder:
Fe-based coatings have recently gained attention for their mechanical, friction and corrosion resistance. Compared to the ceramic or cermet types used by humans before them, the iron-based material is relatively cheap, less strategic, and can be produced economically through a variety of thermal methods, and is easy to manufacture and machine.
Iron boride is commonly used to improve wear resistance, corrosion resistance, wear-resistance and oxidation resistance.
Iron boride is used in oil and gas refineries, chemical extraction, automotive, agricultural, stamping, textile extrusion and injection molding industries.

Storage Condition of Iron Boride FeB Powder:
The damp reunion will affect FeB powder dispersion performance and using effects, therefore, iron boride FeB powder should be sealed in vacuum packing and stored in cool and dry room, the iron boride FeB powder can not be exposure to air. In addition, the FeB powder should be avoided under stress.

CAS No. : 12008-29-6
EINECS No.: 234-535-8
Appearance: dark grey
Molecular Formula: SiB6
Molecular Weight: 92.952

About Silicon Boride SiB6 Powder:
Boron silicon (Silicon Hexaboride) is a shiny black-gray powder with a relative density of 3.0g/cm3 and a melting point of 2200°C. Silicon boride is a lightweight ceramic compound formed between silicon and boron. It is insoluble in water, resistant to oxidation, thermal shock, and chemical attack, especially with high strength and stability under thermal shock. The grinding efficiency is higher than that of boron carbide.

The SiB6 crystal structure includes interconnected icosahedrons (polyhedrons with 20 faces), icosahedral hexahedrons (polyhedrons with 26 faces), and isolated silicon and boron atoms. Compared to hexaboride, it is metastable. However, since crystal nucleation and growth are relatively easy, they can be prepared.

When heated in air or oxygen, the surface of SiB6 is oxidized, and it is attacked by boiling sulfuric acid and fluorine, chlorine and bromine at high temperatures. Silicon boride is conductive. The hexaboride has a low thermal expansion coefficient and a large nuclear cross-section for thermal neutrons. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Silicon Boride SiB6 Powder in bulk.

Calcium Nitride Ca3N2 Powder CAS 12013-82-0

About Calcium Nitride Ca3N2 powder
In most cases, calcium nitride is usually available in large volumes. Biomedicalmaterialsprogram provides a wide range of products for hydrogen storage research, advanced fuel cells, and battery applications. Hydrogen is easily produced from renewable energy sources and is the most abundant element in the universe. Hydrogen comes from many sources, such as solid fuels, water, and renewable materials. Hydrogen is non-polluting and will form harmless water during use. Challenges related to the use of hydrogen as an energy source include the development of safe, compact, reliable, and cost-effective hydrogen storage and transmission technology. Currently, hydrogen can be stored in three forms: compressed hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, and chemical storage. High purity, submicron and Nanopowder forms can be considered. Calcium nitride is the main raw material for high-end phosphors. This phosphor is more stable, has better performance, and has better effects at high temperature and high humidity. Last but not least, calcium nitride can also be used as a chemical treatment agent, which is the key to determining the performance of water-based mud. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Calcium nitride in bulk.
How is Calcium Nitride Produced?
When calcium burns in the air, it forms Ca3N2 with the oxide CaO. The distilled fibrous metallic calcium is heated to 450°C in a purified nitrogen stream, and then the metallic calcium is nitrided into calcium nitride after 3-4 hours.
Depending on the preparation temperature, the obtained calcium nitride is black at 350°C, milky white at 350 to 1150°C, or golden yellow at 1150°C or higher. It is easy to identify the calcium nitride formed because it can react with moisture or water and produce calcium hydroxide and ammonia.
Applications of Calcium Nitride
Ca3N2 can be used for obtaining reactive nitride ions, Calcium hydride (a desiccant) can be produced by heating calcium nitride with hydrogen at temperatures above 350 °C.

Boride Powder

Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder CAS 12619-90-8

CAS No. : 12619-90-8
EINECS No.: 235-723-2
Appearance: powder
Molecular Formula: Ni2B
Molecular Weight: 128.2

About Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder:
Nickel Boride is a chemical compound of nickel and boron with the formula Ni2B. It is one of the borides of nickel. The formula "Ni2B" and the name "nickel boride" are often used for a nickel-boron catalyst obtained by reacting nickel salts with sodium borohydride.
Nickel boride catalyst can reduce unsaturated ethers, alcohols, aldehydes, esters, amines and amides to their corresponding saturated compounds without hydrogenation reaction. Unsaturated nitriles can be reduced to primary amines, while epoxides remain unchanged. In addition to sodium borohydride, dimethoxyborane (Meo)2BH4 or lithium borohydride LiBH4 can react with nickel chloride to obtain nickel boride catalysts for such reactions. It is worth emphasizing that only NiCl2 showed catalytic activity in the combined catalytic reduction of 2-methyl quinoline by a variety of transition metal salts, such as CoCl2, NiCl2, CuCl2, CrCl3 and sodium borohydride. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder in bulk.

How is Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder produced?
Nickel Boride Ni2B can be obtained (together with other nickel borides) by heating sodium borohydride with powdered nickel-metal up to 670 °C in a closed vessel so that the released hydrogen creates a pressure of up to 3.4 MPa. The main reactions can be summarized as
2NaBH4 ↔ 2NaH + B2H6
2Ni + 2B2H6 + NaH ↔ Ni2B + 3BH3 + 2H2 + Na
but other reactions occur, yielding other borides.

Application of Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder:
Nickel boride catalyst is prepared by the reaction of nickel chloride NiCl2 with boron hydrogen reagents such as sodium borohydride NaBH4. It can be used for selective hydrogenation reaction, desulfurization reaction, dehalogenation reaction, hydrolysis reaction, and reduction of nitro and other functional groups.
The nickel boride catalyst prepared by the reaction of NiCl2 and NaBH4 can also be used for desulfurization reaction. Compared with the Raney nickel catalyst used in the traditional desulfurization reaction, it can obtain a higher yield, and at the same time, it can avoid the disadvantages of Raney nickel such as strong alkalinity, flammability and sensitivity to air and moisture.
In addition, thioamides, sulfides and sulfides can all be desulfurized under the catalysis of nickel boride to obtain corresponding hydrocarbons
Primary, secondary, and tertiary aliphatic nitro compounds can be reduced to amines in the presence of nickel boride.
The NiCl2/NaBH4 combination also achieves dehalogenation and hydrolysis reactions, reducing many α-bromoketones to ketones, or dibromo ketones to olefines, and reducing benzyl, allyl, and propargyl esters to the corresponding alkanes.

Storage Condition of Nickel Boride Ni2B Powder:
The damp reunion will affect Ni2B powder dispersion performance and using effects, therefore, nickel boride Ni2B powder should be sealed in vacuum packing and stored in cool and dry room, the nickel boride Ni2B powder can not be exposure to air. In addition, the Ni2B powder should be avoided under stress.
