Applications of Sodium alpha-olefin sulfonate:

Sodium Alpha olefin Sulfonate has excellent wettability, detergency, good foaming power, emulsifying power; easy to dissolve in water, strong lime soap dispersing power, resistance to hard water; good biodegradability, and mild to the skin; compatibility Good performance. It is widely used in various washing cosmetics, as the main raw material of washing powder, composite soap, tableware detergent, and phosphorus-free detergent. It can be used in cleaning cosmetics such as shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser, etc. It can also be used in industrial detergents.

Application of washing powder

Decontamination tests showed that LAS and AOS exhibited good synergistic effects in both phosphorus-containing and phosphorus-free powders. The synergistic effect of LAS:AOS was the most significant at 8:2 in phosphorus-containing laundry detergents. In the phosphorus-free laundry powder with LAS and AOS as anionic active components, when the proportion of anionic active components of AOS is greater than 20%, the decontamination is significantly improved. The synergistic effect of AOS in decontamination in phosphorus-free laundry powder is more prominent than that in phosphorus-containing powder.

AOS and enzymes have good compatibility. Determination and comparison of residual enzyme activity in detergent solutions containing domestic protease and imported protease (such as Savnase), with the passage of time, the residual enzyme activity of pure LAS as the anionic active component is lower, and the partial or complete replacement of AOS with AOS Residual enzyme activity was higher in detergent solutions that replaced LAS.

The decontamination of AOS and LAS is not much different when washing at higher temperature and for a long time (eg: above 60°C, washing for 1 hour). But when washed at room temperature (10-40°C, washing for 10-29 minutes), the detergency of AOS is higher than that of LAS. Compared with LAS, AOS has stronger resistance to hard water, so it shows the advantages of AOS in areas with high hard water.

LAS is superior to oil/granular detergency, while non-ions such as fatty alcohol ethers are most suitable for washing dust and skin dirt. Only the combination of the two can obtain a good decontamination effect, while AOS is good for sebum dirt and oily and powdery dirt. All have good decontamination effects.

The amount of ash deposition on the fabrics after washing the fabrics with the phosphorus-free laundry powder containing 4A zeolite, paocyanine and soda ash is worth noting. The phosphorus-free laundry powder that partially replaces LAS with AOS has less ash deposition after washing than the phosphorus-free laundry powder that uses LAS alone, and it is not easy to harden and yellow. (refer to recipe omitted)

Application of soap

Soap produces insoluble soap scum in hard water, which affects the decontamination effect. Adding AOS can improve the solubility of soap in water, and the wetting power and foaming power of soap liquid at low temperature also increase rapidly. When AOS is added to soap with sodium fatty acid as the main ingredient, various characteristics of the soap are improved, the foaming power is enhanced, the resistance to hard water is improved, the flexibility is enhanced, and it is not easy to crack. The reference recipe is as follows:

Formulation Soap Base AOS AES Fragrance Pigment, Titanium Dioxide

1 97.8 3.5 / 0.5 Appropriate

2 96.8 / 4.5 0.5 Appropriate

Liquid Detergent Applications

Because LAS is more irritating, many washing products no longer use LAS as an active component, while AOS is a more suitable substitute because of its low irritation and good biodegradability. In liquid detergents, AOS has a great influence on the viscosity of the product. The commonly used fatty alcohol diethanolamide and Na-Cl are used to increase the viscosity, but the effect is not ideal. The use of fatty alcohol monoethanolamide, amine oxide, betaine and NH4Cl And so can play a good role in viscosity. Due to the characteristics of AOS in decontamination, hard water resistance, viscosity, etc., AOS has a wide range of applications in liquid detergents with high active components. The reference formula is as follows (dishwashing detergent):

Formulation LAS AES AOS 6501 EDTA Polymer Preservative, Fragrance Water

1 6 .8 6.8 6.5 3.0 0.2 0.3 Appropriate amount Margin

2 8. 5 2.0 8.5 3.5 0.2 0.9 Appropriate amount Margin

Personal Care Applications

The mildness of AOS is comparable to that of AES, while the irritation of LAS and AS is much greater than that of AOS. Therefore, AOS has a wide range of uses in personal care products. AOS is extremely stable under acidic conditions, and normal human skin is weakly acidic (about pH 5.5), so it is suitable to use AOS as a component of personal washing products. Shampoos with AOS as the main active ingredient have better foaming properties than K12. Rinso reports that the lather released by AOS is plump and creamy with a soapy feel when washed. This feature is suitable for Chinese washing habits. As a result, AOS can be used in personal care products such as body washes, hand soaps, and facial cleansers. Reference recipe

Other applications

AOS has a wide range of applications in the textile printing and dyeing industry, petrochemicals, tertiary oil recovery, and industrial cleaning. AOS can be used as concrete density improver, foamed wallboard and fire-fighting foam. It can also be used as pesticide emulsifier, wetting agent, etc.
