It is found between the B and B atoms of aluminum diboride (AlB2), which is very similar with the structure in magnesium diboride. AlB 2 single crystal shows metal conductivity along an angle parallel to the hexagonal plan of the substrate.
The AlB2 crystal structure is used to describe intermetallic compound prototype structures. There are many structures in the AlB2 family.
