Aluminum nitride
is a covalent bonds compound. The chemical formula for AIN is It is an atomic nitride crystal that belongs to the diamond-like hexagonal system. The crystal has a wurtzite crystal structure.
Aluminum nitride This synthetic mineral isn’t found in nature. AlN’s crystal structure is hexagonal, wurtzite, type. It offers low density (3.2g/cm3) and high strength. Decomposition takes place at 3060.

AlN stays stable above 2200. At room temperature, AlN has a high strength and decreases in strength with temperature. AlN’s thermal conductivity is high and it also has a low thermal extension coefficient. This makes it a great heat shock material. AlN is a great crucible material to melt and cast pure iron, aluminum or an alloy of aluminum. Aluminium nitride has excellent electrical insulation properties. Aluminum nitride is also an attractive electrical component. It is protected by ion implantation through annealing thanks to the aluminum nitride coat on gallium arsenide. Aluminium nitride also acts as a catalyst in the conversion of hexagonal to cubic boron nutride.
It is slow to react with water at room temperatures. The aluminum powder can be made from ammonia, nitrogen or aluminum at 8001000. This product can be described as a grayish-blue to white powder. Gray powder can be obtained by using the al2O3C–N2 system reaction synthesizer at 16001750. You can also use aluminum chloride as ammonia gas. By vapor deposition, the AlCl3/NH3 system can be used to synthesize the coating.
