    What are Nickel Alloys Used For?

    Nickel Alloys are metals that combine nickel as the main ingredient with another material (usually titanium or copper, aluminum and iron, respectively). Combining two materials together can give it more desirable functions like higher strength or resistance to corrosion. Because of its unique properties, it can be used in multiple devices across many industries.
    The production of alloys accounts for 90% of all the nickel that is sold annually. The most widely used is Stainless Steel, which accounts approximately for two-thirds the new generation of nickel alloys.

    How long does nickel alloy last?
    Nickel alloys can last for between 25-35 years. The service life can vary depending on the application. This makes the material more affordable than other metals. Nickel alloys can easily be recycled and have some of the highest recover rates anywhere in the world. About half the nickel used in stainless steel products is made from recycled nickel.

    The energy, chemical and power industries are dependent on nickel superalloys due to their high oxidation resistance and high temperature strength in critical applications. The alloys of molybdenum and chromium offer greater resistance to corrosion.



    Superioralloys have homogeneous elements, including chromium (cobalt), titanium, and aluminum. They are created by adding these homogeneous elements to create directional solidification or single-crystalline structure. This gives the material strength that is higher than ordinary steel. These nickel-based alloys are useful in extreme heat environments like aircraft for electricity generation or gas turbines.

    The iron-bearing, nickel alloys have become very popular in electronics engineering and specialty engineering. Nickel and copper alloys with are widely used in marine engineering for their corrosion resistance in saltwater.

    Because of its low corrosion rate, this stainless steel has been used more in wastewater treatment and piping systems. It has incredible strength and ductility, and it is easy to produce. This allows for easier and cheaper pipe assembly.
