Cement foaming agent, also known as foaming concrete foaming agent, refers to an admixture that can reduce the surface tension of liquid and generate a large amount of uniform and stable foam for the production of foamed concrete. Foaming agent is a kind of substance that can make its aqueous...
Aluminum Dedecaboride Ceramics
Aluminum dodecaboride (AlB12) is a brittle red solid that reacts with boron to form the crystalline boride AlB2. It is hard and high-melting, stable to nonoxidizing acids but breaks down in strong oxidizing agents. The aluminium and boron in this compound are bonded covalently in a crystal structure similar to graphite.
Aluminium boronide is a highly corrosion-resistant material that can be used as an alternative to steel and titanium alloys for use in nuclear reactor components and aerospace applications. It is also used in manufacturing mechanical end seals, sandblasting nozzles, and as an anti-bullet flak jacket ceramic for armored vehicles and automobiles.
The consolidated AlB12- and AlB12C2-based ceramics exhibit fracture toughness and shock wave resistance that are significantly better than that of brittle silicon carbide, suggesting they may have potential as a new type of lightweight ceramics with ballistic protection. Furthermore, the addition of boron to alumina has been shown to increase fracture toughness.
